Chapter 12 starts with how Mr Belok was interviewing the teams looking for new managers, but the best ones were the ones they selected on the months before. then they made a new chart with the groups, A, B or C and the different products they had to deliver.
After that, Mr T. got a post card from Lahksa, who had been disappeared for over 3 weeks, and a few days later he got a mail from Cambridge to meet someone, then he got on a plane and the first person he saw was this guy, Johns Corpus, and he started talking about programmers and computers.
After almost 5 hours and a good talk, Johns Corpus was gone again, he was a busy guy who was traveling to different places each day. Mr T’s office was so messy because of all the things they did, reports and papers all over the place, he was in shock as hadn’t rest enough. After that Belinda entered the room and saw all the mess, and then she was excited, the models she saw were like the ones they drew before.
After a few chat, they all spent the afternoon on Mr T’s office recreating the algorithms that John showed them and understanding the information they had. Then they started discussing about where they were, because in the chart they had were between two and ninety points, and Belinda told them that after the first project they would have a data point, and after another project another data point, so in a few years they would have the answer.
After Mr T. was failing in getting the point, Waldo arrived with a tray with coffee, then they started thinking about the old projects and how they could get the data points out of them. Then Belinda said that their job was to calculate the points of data, but Mr T. thought they didn’t have the knowledge to do that, so they could hire someone specialized on doing those kinds of analysis, then the ex-General turned to see Waldo.
He was perfect for the job, although Mr T. wasn’t convinced at all, Belinda and the ex-General saw the potential in him, as he had been there forever, knew all the projects and all the persons. After all the chat, Belinda convinced him and Waldo got the promotion to the manager of the metrics group.
After a few hours, Belinda and Waldo cracked a way to use the function of calculating the points and mastered it, and Waldo told them that he would have the data of the past projects in less than a week. Then Belinda and Mr T. had dinner and after started talking, Belinda was saying why didn’t they do this months ago, but Mr T. argued that they needed Corpus’ formula with the data points.
